Gwen Archer’s Gluten-Free Staples You’ll Always Need

Gwen Archer was overwhelmed when she first made the switch to a gluten-free diet. A brief trip to the grocery store devolved into a furious, label-reading, and second-guessing marathon. Gwen recalls, “It was like learning a new language overnight.”

She initially attempted to substitute a gluten-free version of every item she used to adore. She soon discovered, however, that real success required creating a new foundation rather than copying the past. Gwen began concentrating on basic, wholesome staples that she could rely on—ingredients that didn’t feel like concessions but rather offered up new options.

Finding foods that felt full and alive on their own was more important than simply purchasing gluten-free bread or pasta. She embraced hearty vegetables, leaned toward naturally gluten-free grains like brown rice and quinoa, and filled her pantry with staples like chickpeas, nuts, seeds, and spices that gave each meal depth and flavor.

Gwen’s kitchen changed over time from being a place of caution to one of inventiveness. She claims that the fear vanished. “I started enjoying what I could eat instead of worrying about what I couldn’t.” Instead of feeling constrained, Gwen feels empowered today. Not only is her gluten-free pantry essential, but it also serves as the foundation for incredibly filling, delectable, and vibrant meals.
