Fiora Grey’s Low-Sugar Snacks for the Sweet Tooth

Fiora Grey has always enjoyed sweets. Desserts were more than just a treat when I was growing up; they were a custom. Late-night ice cream runs with friends, Sunday cakes, and holiday cookies. She laughs as she explains, “We celebrated everything with sweetness.”

However, Fiora began to notice a change in the way her body responded as she approached her thirties. Her cravings felt more like chains than pleasures, her skin would flare up randomly, and the afternoon crashes grew sharper. She knew she needed to strike a better balance, but she didn’t want to completely give up sweets.

Fiora initially thought that reducing sugar would mean sacrificing happiness. However, she quickly learned that sweets didn’t have to be heavy desserts or refined white sugar. Ripe fruits, creamy coconut, a touch of vanilla or cinnamon, or even a square of rich, dark chocolate could be the source of it instead.

Fiora discovered that altering the experience was more important than simply switching out the ingredients. She began to appreciate her sweets more deliberately, identifying flavors she had previously ignored. Once she let herself savor it, a medjool date with almond butter became more satisfying than a whole candy bar.

Amazingly, her body reacted. The dramatic highs and lows that had dominated her life were gone. Her desires waned. Her vitality stabilized. Fiora claims, “I didn’t lose my sweet tooth.” “I simply taught it to enjoy the genuine, mild form of sweetness.”

She still celebrates her love of desserts today, but on new terms that are as good for her body as they are for her soul. “Sweetness was never the enemy,” she says with a smile. I simply needed to discover a more delightful way of living.
