Zara Collins’ Best Anti-Inflammatory Smoothies for Heart Health

“Chronic inflammation is often connected to heart disease, thus it’s essential to eat foods that can lower it,” Zara says. “Smoothies are so easy to make and a great approach to load up on heart-healthy nutrients.”

For anti-inflammatory smoothies, Zara’s preferred components include berries, spinach, turmeric, and chia seeds. “Berries abound in antioxidants that fight inflammation; these include blueberries and strawberries. For a natural taste and nutrient kick, I always toss a handful in my smoothies.

Blueberries, spinach, chia seeds, almond milk, with a dash of turmeric and a drizzle of honey for sweetener, make one of Zara’s favourite smoothie recipes. “This is the ideal approach to start your day and give your body the tools it requires to fight inflammation.”

To your smoothies, Zara also advises including some healthy fats such as avocado or a tablespoon of flaxseed oil. “Healthy fats support your heart and give your smoothies deliciousness and consistency.”
