Isis Rowe’s Low-Sodium Meal Plan That’s Still Flavorful

Isis Rowe worried her meals would become tasteless and dead when her doctor advised she cut her salt consumption. From soups and stews to marinades and sauces, Isis, a lifetime gourmet enthusiast, had always depended on salt to improve her cuisine. She laughs as she remembers fearing everything would taste like cardboard.

But Isis saw it as a challenge rather than yielding to boring food. Seeking ways to bring strong taste back into her cuisine without depending on the salt shaker, she started experimenting with herbs, spices, and fresh foods. “It forced me to become more creative in the kitchen,” she adds. “I began to see how much taste lives in lemon zest, roasted garlic, and good olive oil.”

Her foods become more textured and vibrant. She discovered that slow-roasting vegetables, adding a dash of citrous at the end of cooking, and layering taste with components like vinegars, ginger, and fresh herbs help one create depth. She missed the salt hardly at all over time.

“I feel better, less bloated, and more in tune with what I’m eating,” Isis reports. She even rallied her family on board. “They hardly noticed when I started preparing low-sodium cuisine. They simply mentioned that dinner tasted really excellent.

Now, Isis posts her delicious low-sodium recipes online so that people may understand that good eating just requires changing our seasoning and savouring techniques rather than giving up taste.
