Isabeau Lake’s Meal Planning Strategy for Working Women

Isabeau Lake has personal experience with how hectic a working woman’s life can be. Food frequently becomes an afterthought between appointments, deadlines, and family obligations—something that is snatched on the fly, consumed at a desk, or completely neglected.

She acknowledges, “There were weeks when I just ate whatever I could microwave in five minutes for dinner.”

However, Isabeau also understood that the stress caused by bad eating habits only made things more difficult. She knew she needed to find a better way to take care of herself without taking on more work, but she didn’t have any more time to spare. At that point, she developed her own adaptable meal planning method that was designed for everyday use rather than perfection.

Isabeau concentrated on developing a framework—having a few staple ingredients on hand, a few quick recipes she loved, and space for spontaneity—rather than forcing herself into strict schedules. Sundays evolved into a day of mild preparation, including roasting proteins, cooking grains, and chopping vegetables. Just enough to make cooking on weeknights quicker and less stressful, but not enough to prepare meals in advance.

This strategy provided her with the independence she desired. “When life got busy, I stopped feeling guilty,” she says. “Because I was aware that I had given myself options that made taking care of myself simpler.” Meal planning is now a silent source of support that helps her stay grounded even when life feels like it’s getting out of control. It’s not just another chore on her to-do list.
