Among the most wise choices I have made for my health has been adopting an anti-inflammatory way of living. I have discovered over time that your diet either fuels or helps battle inflammation. Keeping a list of my best anti-inflammatory superfoods has helped me, as a working professional, remain on target and something I enjoy to share with clients and friends.
Often known as the “golden spice,” turmeric has curcumin, a chemical with strong anti-inflammatory action. I toss it into soups, smoothies, or even sprinkle roasted vegetables.
Berries: Raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries abound in antioxidants meant to reduce inflammation. For a sweet and nutritious treat, I enjoy tossing a few into my morning oatmeal or yoghurt.
Kale, spinach and Swiss chard abound in vitamins and minerals that boost your immune system. These greens are always part of my meals whether they are in salads or cooked into stews.
Ginger: Regarding lowering inflammation, this root is a powerhouse. Every day I sip ginger tea; occasionally I toss it into my smoothies for a kick.
Excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids—which are well-known for their anti-inflammatory properties— Salmon, sardines, and mackerel A dinner mainstay for me is grilled salmon.
Avocados, which are creamy and high in good fats, help reduce bodily inflammation. I enjoy including them into salads or simply eating them salted.
Nuts high in antioxidants and good fats are almonds, walnuts, and cashews. They’re excellent sprinkled over salads or as a quick snack.
Olive Oil: Especially extra virgin, olive oil has anti-inflammatory and heart-healthy qualities. I usually drizzle my go-to oil for cooking on my salads and vegetables.
Green Tea: I swear by the naturally occurring antioxidants in green tea. A few cups a day not only help with inflammation but also provide me a modest energy boost.
Perfect for maintaining a good, anti-inflammatory diet, chia seeds are little seeds loaded with omega-3s and fibre. I slosh them into smoothies or toss them over my porridge.
